What is Affiliate Marketing?
Affiliate marketing refers to the marketing that a website owner or an influencer does on behalf of an online retailer. If your blog posts include recommendations for products that can be purchased online, you can link to the product, and if someone buys the item from the retailer through your affiliate link, you make money on the purchase.
Benefits of Being an Affiliate Marketer
It's Passive Income
If you write a terrific blog post about homemade ramen and include recommendations on beautiful serving bowls, you can include your affiliate link to those bowls. Anyone looking for your killer ramen recipe can check them out and buy them, putting some money in your pocket. That ramen article can stay on the internet forever, and as long as the link to the bowls is good, readers can get what they want, and you can make money. Writing one article that makes you money many times is one of the best ways to make passive income.
Promote What You Love
Suppose you're a crafter and have a YouTube channel that teaches those with all thumbs that they can, indeed, crochet and knit, you probably have yarns and tools that you adore. With accurate marketing links in your video comments, you can send business to your favorite organic wool store, increase the business of those you respect, serve your viewers with wonderful products, and help the planet. What's not to love!
You Don't Have to Invent Anything
If you're really good at using common items for uncommon results, your style of creativity is ideally suited to affiliate marketing! Take a trip to your local discount store and load up on plastic baskets and ice cube trays, then go home and make a video about building out your office and your jewelry-making station. Each basket, each ice tray, and each glass bead can have a marketing link for your viewers to consider.
You Don't Need Marketing Expertise
In the example above, there's a lot of expertise. You need to be extremely organized to build an office inside a closet. You need to have an eye for design to make homemade jewelry. You need to be thrifty to turn a bunch of plastic bins into a functioning workspace. However, you don't have to be good at marketing to make money on all those skills. Create your space, share your links, and post your video. The marketing money takes care of itself as folks soak up your skills.
